Are You Truly Who You're Pretending To Be?
Who would you be if you were not who you’re pretending to be? Make believe and pretending are fun games for little kids, but too many times as big kids we forgot we were just pretending. Today we’ve become who we pretended to be for all these years.
A message from my Joy Guide, Christopher.
OpEd: For me today’s lesson is about shining the light of awareness into the person we are. We’re each “One”, connected with all life on a spiritual level. However as individuals we have unique personalities, perceptions, histories, talents, skills and reasons for being here. It’s the historical part of our identities Christopher is talking about. As we grew up, we created a map of reality and the world we live in. We developed behaviors, attitudes, strategies, techniques and personas that helped us get what we want in life. In some cases, what we wanted was to survive.
Just like a child playing make believe who can become whom ever the wish to be during the game, we each developed personas allowing us to function in the world. We repeated what worked and stopped what didn’t work. During this process of growing up and maturing we forgot that we ever had a choice about how to do things. We just repeated what worked and avoided what didn’t work. As we develop our awareness, we have an opportunity to discover these choices and examine whether or not they are consistent with the person we want to be.
